HOW ARE WE DOING?
As Governors we are passionate about what we do and welcome feedback and suggestions from parents, pupils, staff and the community to guide us. We shall maintain close links with the school community to help the school continue to be successful.
Parents are invited to access the school web site via “Governors” in the "All About Us" tab to find out more about who we are and the meetings held recently.
If anybody is interested in becoming a Governor please contact the school office.
At our Full Governors meeting held on the 8th October 2025, we agreed the following priorities:
- Close and continuous oversight of key school priorities, with additional focus and support with regard to the short and long-term direction/operating model for the school.
- Continued focus on governor engagement and visibility with staff, parents and pupils.
- Ongoing Governor recruitment and development.
On a personal note, I was appointed the new Chair of Governors at the October meeting and have been working with Jason Bates to ensure a smooth transition. I have been a local authority-appointed governor here since November 2023, and have previously been chair of governors at two schools, one primary school and one special school, in Essex. Before retiring, I worked in the NHS as a senior manager and director at hospitals in the south east of England.
With regards to Governor recruitment, I am pleased to announce that Verity Quarmby was appointed as a co-opted governor. Verity brings a wealth of experience in education and music provision.
During the Autumn term, as planned, specific governor reviews of a number of key areas were undertaken. These included: Curriculum (Mathematics presentation by Mrs E Wood), Safeguarding, Equality and Inclusion, SEN/D, Early Years, Pupil Premium and Sports Premium.
Next term, it is planned that we will hold a second governor school visit day, building on the day governors spent in school last July. During the term, we shall also focus on Pupil Attendance Management and Staff Well-being.
Please note the next update will be in the Spring Term 2026
