Improving Support for Families of children with SEND

Our PCAN Annual General Meeting and Discussion about Behaviour was held on November 15th at  the Mission in Huddersfield.  It was lovely to see so many members attending and a great opportunity to tell senior people in Kirklees about the difficulties so many of us are facing trying to get the right support for our children and ourselves especially regarding managing behaviour.

This event marked the launch of our "Behaviour Project" which aims to improve support for families in Kirklees.  For the past few years, parents have been telling us about the difficulties they face managing their child's behaviour at home and in getting the right support as carers of children with additional needs. We have been raising this regularly with Kirklees Council who are now committed to improving support for families of children with SEN.

Behaviour Survey

We have created a survey for you to share your experiences about managing behaviour at home, and the impact this is having on you and your family.  Please, please, please complete the survey which can be found here.   The findings will give us huge amount of evidence to show to Kirklees Council which will help them to improve the support currently on offer, and improve the way that you can access help.

If you need help to fill it in, we will be bringing the survey along to our Christmas social on Tuesday 17th December 9.15 to 1 pm at Thornhill Lees Community Centre, Brewery Lane, Thornhill, Dewsbury WF12 9DU, and also to our next social meeting at the Zone, St Andrews Road, Huddersfield on Friday 10th January (9.30 to 12.30). If you would like us to come along to your school group or support group to help you to complete the survey, please get in touch with us here.

After the behaviour discussion on the 15th November, we held our Annual General Meeting and presented what PCAN  has been doing for families in Kirklees during 2018/2019.  A copy of our report can be found here.

Big thanks to everyone who took part. As a registered charity, we have to hold an annual general meeting and really appreciate your support with this.

If you would like to find out more about how PCAN is making a difference for families in Kirklees, or you are interested in being more involved yourself, please contact us at info@pcankirklees.org or call 07754 102336.  We would love to hear from you!!!
