Admissions Policy 2015/2016
This policy has been produced in accordance with Kirklees Admission Policy for community and controlled school 2015-2016.
School Admissions
The PAN (Published Admission Number) for Dalton School is 70 – this being the maximum number of places we can offer in each year group. The PAA (Planned Admission Area) refers to the catchment area of the school –details of which can be obtained from Kirklees.
If there are fewer applicants than there are places then every child will be offered a place. However, where there are more applicants than places the following criteria is used to determine which children are offered places:
- children in public care (looked after children) or a child who was previously looked after;
- children who live in the school’s PAA who have a brother or sister attending from the same address at the date of admission;
- children who live in the school’s PAA;
- children who live outside the school’s PAA who have brother or sister attending from the same address at the date of admission
- children who live outside of the school’s PAA.
Starting Full Time Education
All children can start school in the September following their 4th Birthday. This means that children born between 1 September 2010 and 31st August 2011 can start full time school in September 2015. Application Forms are available from the school office or can be downloaded from The Kirklees Website - please click here. When registering your child the school also requires to see your child’s Birth Certificate and proof of current address e.g. a utility bill.
Applications have to be made by 15th January 2015 – any received after this date will be dealt with as late applications and may reduce the chances of you getting your child in the school of your choice. The forms are then processed by the Admissions Section at Kirklees who will in turnoffer you a full time place for your child.
